It takes a lot of courage to start something in life. One struggles to start a new business, new restaurant, new job, new life, etc. People spend their time, energy, capital, and work hard to achieve this goal. It’s not just limited to a new business or job, it takes a lot of courage to adopt new things in life. Be it an active and healthy lifestyle or transformation of a lethargic, whining, boring panda to a fitness enthusiast. Last year took a toll on all those things, we were proud of breaking the ice and incorporating them into our lives. Due to the outbreak of coronavirus all over the world, things got changed and a lot of masses faced a setback and landed back to, where they had started.

One of the major setbacks was to the fitness industry. Being a fitness enthusiast, I too faced several issues and I wish to share my experiences. In the beginning, when lockdown started, all gyms and health clubs were closed indefinitely. I used to work out at home for at least 30 minutes daily. I kept the momentum going. But, as the months passed by. That spark for exercise started to diminish and gradually it was gone for some time. But being a restless person, I started other physical activities to stay fit and active like walking, cycling, etc. It helped me to stay fit and I reduced five Kilograms of weight.

As the Covid situation is gradually getting better. I again start practicing to incorporate a systematic and healthy lifestyle. I have joined a nearby gym house. But believe me, this time it’s tougher. Every day is like a new challenge. Be it lifting weights or maintaining a routine. To start again from scratch is a challenge itself. It feels like a great deal. Because, in the back of the mind, we always compare our previous results with the present outcomes.

Starting from scratch is never easy,

You need to build things again once again

with that haunting yet enlightening past,

With your two Evergreen Friends –

Experience and Determination*

Most people don’t want to go through this pain of starting from scratch.

So, How can we prevent it?

The answer is very simple. One can easily prevent this from happening. But, it all depends upon us to make it work. You can not see around for help. It is your life, your passion. No one has asked you before to do it. If you have done it earlier, you can do it again. But, the key is that one should continue doing things. Even doing it in a small amount would work. Just keep the rhythm going.

Don’t be afraid to start over.

This time you’re not starting from

scratch, you’re starting from experience*

There are few learnings from my experience which should help you to keep going.

The first and foremost thing is that one should not let anything and anyone cloud his/her enthusiasm. There are a lot of people in our lives, who never encourage and support us. But, we should always focus on what we want, not on what people are saying. “Kuch to log kahenge, logon ka kaam hai kehna“, So Ignore non-supportive people. Once the enthusiasm is gone, nothing and no one can help you. The key is within ourselves. If one tries to work with oneself rather than looking for a hand or shoulder for support, one can achieve great heights.

The second key is to manage time properly. And by time, I don’t just mean the work time. But, also the time to sleep and wake up in the morning. If one starts his day at 11 o’clock in the morning. Then, how can one manage the activities for the whole day? One should sleep and wake up early to make the best out of the day. If one has enough time in the day, he/she can easily exercise, work, and do other Misc activities or hobbies as well.

The third key is to keep a check on what one eats. One should eat what one can burn by performing physical activities. It should not be the case that one is just eating and doing nothing sitting for a miracle to happen. One should always keep a check on the macro and micronutrients required for a healthy life. Always eat what you can digest and try to incorporate more fiber into your diet. Include whole fruits in the diet rather than juices. Avoid refined flour and oils in the diet. Drink a lot of water to stay hydrated and try to avoid raw salt and refined sugar, if possible.

The last and most important key is motivation. If you are not motivated you are just like a steam engine without fire. You have the capability to work, but you can’t move because you don’t have that motivation. To make things work, you should have that fire in you which keeps you moving and people can learn from you. You can be a reason for someone’s better life.

A person should do what he likes and is passionate about. He/She should not induce interest by watching people doing things. Whether it is related to fitness, job, business, etc. The reason is very simple: Induced things can be undone. Things that come from within are very hard to let go of. If you are following your passion and making it more interesting day by day, trust me, You will never end up in a situation, where you need to start from scratch again.
