Macronutrients are essential for the proper functioning of our body. There are mainly three types – Carbohydrates, Proteins, and Fats. The body can not produce macronutrients on its own. We need to have a proper diet in order to get all the essential nutrients.

Let’s talk today about the important constituent of our daily diet – The Carbohydrates.

So, what are carbs?

Carbohydrates are the sugars, Starches, and fibers found in fruits, grains, vegetables, and milk products. They are the main source of energy. Carbohydrates derive their name from the chemical composition of Hydrogen and Carbon.

We always heard from people, “if you want to manage weight or get lean, etc, you need to keep a check on your carbs and calories intake. You need to minimize the carbs intake or eat healthy carbs”.

So, what are these healthy carbs and unhealthy carbs? Scientifically, there are a few types of carbohydrates which we need not know. But, to lead a healthy life, we must be aware of two types of carbohydrates – Simple(Bad Carbs) and Complex(Good Carbs).

Why Simple carbs are bad and Complex carbs are good?

Simple carbs are found in refined food items like Sugar, Flour, White bread, Ketchup, Syrups, Beverages, White rice Processed food, etc. When a person consumes simple or Bad carbs, it reaches the small intestine through the stomach and immediately it starts to digest quickly spiking the blood glucose levels converting energy into fats. As we all know excess fats are not good for the body but simple carbs produce them. So, they are bad.

On the other hand, Complex carbs are digested slowly avoiding the insulin spike, only energy, and no excess fats. Since complex carbs are the clean energy source (almost) so they are good. Sources of complex carbs are whole grains, steel-cut oats, Brown rice, Brown bread, etc.

To stay healthy and fit, try to consume less bad carbs. But don’t consume too much of complex carbs in one go. It will be as good as the Simple one. Have your meals in small portions as an excess of anything is bad.

Stay Healthy!!!

  1. Hi there! Do you know if they make any plugins to safeguard against
hackers? I’m kinda paranoid about losing everything I’ve
    worked hard on. Any suggestions?
